The Community Wardens are a team of officers who patrol the area taking practical action to make Burngreave a better place to live. They are the ‘eyes’ and ‘ears’ of the community providing a range of services for local people. For example, on pension day, older people from the community felt it would make them feel safer if the wardens were around the post office at the time they collect their pension.
The wardens also conduct informal patrols, provide a walking bus service to local primary schools, help to keep the area clean and safe and give an alternative for residents to contact rather than the police.
