The Burngreave Safer Neighbourhood Police Team (SNT)
This team was formed in October 2005 and is made up of one Inspector, one Sergeant and currently four Police Constables. The core of the team is made up of officers that were originally part of the Burngreave New Deal Team. These officers will no doubt be familiar to you;
Inspector Jon Ekwubiri. Jon is 46 years old and has been an Inspector since 1997. He was a founder member of the South Yorkshire Black Police Association. Jon is an experienced public order commander and has spent the last 3 years working as the Community Safety Inspector for Burngreave and Pitsmoor, but has also been representative in the City centre and dealing with Vice issues in Shalesmoor. Whilst Inspector Ekwubiri has a wider role which includes, Fir Vale, Firth Park, Shiregreen and Wincobank, the remaining officers within the team are dedicated soley to policing issues and especially long term problem solving within Burngreave and Pitsmoor.
Sergeant Simon Leake has been in the Police Service since 1990, completing 10 years in Nottinghamshire before transferring north to Sheffield. He has experience in CID and commercial fraud and is currently a public order commander in the City. Simon has worked in Community Safety since 2003, initially in Shalesmoor tackling Vice issues and then in Fir Vale finally arriving as the Burngreave Sergeant in January 2006.
PC Craig Charlesworth joined the service in 1996 and all but the first two years of his service have been spent in Burngreave. Craig is aslo a member of the City Centre Public Order Team and has a wealth of experience in tackling drug crime and anti social behaviour.
PC Duncan Wray likewise has worked virtually all his service in Burngreave and he also forms part of the City Centre Public Order Team. Like Craig, Duncan has a wealth of experience tackling drug crime including the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.
PC Adam Butcher has 7 years service. He began his career in the Metropolitan Police, working in various roles, ranging from response team, Proactive robbery team and then onto the Central London Task force. Adam transferred in 2004 and has spent his time working Burngreave and Pitsmoor, first as a response team officer and now as a Community officer.
PC Matt Stringer has 5 years service. His career began at West Bar covering the City Centre of Sheffield. He moved to his current role over two years ago.
