Sure Start aims to improve the health and well-being of families and children before and from birth, so that children are ready to flourish when they go to school!
All families with a child under the age of 5 or who are expecting a baby who live in the Burngreave area, are eligible to receive services at the Children's Centre.
We are based in the Burngreave Children's Centre on Spital Street, and offer family support, early years, health and parental involvement services. Examples of groups and activities that we offer include parenting classes, antenatal and postnatal groups, a breastfeeding cafe, healthy eating classes and parent and toddler groups. We have a 30 place nursery taking children from 3 months to 5 years old (contact 252 5224 for an application form). We have produced a Family Cookbook containing healthy recipes provided by local parents, which is available for £3.95 (parents who complete one of our courses receive a free copy) – please contact the Centre on 252 5220 if you are interested in obtaining a copy!
