The showcase event held by Creative Burngreave on the 23rd March 2006, at the Burngreave Chapel, was a huge success.
The event was an opportunity to showcase the work of the projects that have been funded in 2005/2006 by Creative Burngreave. Local artists and community groups displayed their work in a marquee in the grounds of the chapel or performed on stage inside the chapel. We had performances by The Botox Twins from Jamboree Arts, Carmen Franklin read some roots poetry and was accompanied by African drumming, Simone Thompson performed a contemporary dance piece and Michelle Scally-Clarke performed some of her poetry pieces.
The Lord Mayor presented certificates to artists who had successfully completed the Artist Training Programme. There was a chance to view the Creative Burngreave Show-reel, which summarised the funded projects and also the mentoring scheme for 2005/2006.
To finish off the evening Leilah Wrag provided some delicious Arabic food in the marquee and the artists had a chance to network and make new contacts.
