Burngreave New Deal for Communities Health Theme Focus Group held a well attended meeting on Monday 6th December 2004. The main focus of the meeting was how to improve social care and support for carers.
Contributions were made by representatives of Young Carers, the Carers' Centre, Yemeni Carers, Social Services and Burngreave Community Action Forum.
The meeting established a Burngreave Carers Task Group to work with Social Services and other mainstream agencies to put in place long term arrangements to improve the support for carers and those needing care.
This group will make proposals to BNDfC about how to remove barriers and improve access to mainstream services and ensure care and support is in place for those who don't meet the eligibilty criteria for support from mainstream services.
