Burngreave residents are being asked to give their views on the future of the area they live in.
A special consultation event has been organised by Burngreave New Deal for Communities (BNDfC) so local people can find out more and have their say on BNDfC's plans for Year 5 (2005/06) of the ten-year government-funded regeneration programme.
BNDfC was awarded £52 million from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to help regenerate Burngreave between 2001-2011. It works in partnership to change and develop local services and to ensure that BNDfC brings long-term improvements to mainstream services and facilities in response to the priorities of local people.
The event, at the newly refurbished Verdon Recreation Centre, Verdon Street, is on Saturday 22 January 2005 from 11am to 4pm.
It will give the local community an opportunity to comment on and contribute ideas to the plans and work with BNDfC to make Burngreave a better place to live, work and play. Information will be available and staff on hand to answer any questions and listen to everyone's views and opinions.
Following last year's event, the comments of local people resulted in some great achievements such as eight local people employed as community wardens, 705 local residents enrolled on adult education courses and 975 halal lunches served to the elderly.
John Clark, BNDfC Chief Executive, said: “This event provides the ideal opportunity for local people to let us know what they want to see happen in Burngreave. As we approach the half-way mark in the BNDfC programme, we hope as many people as possible will come along and get involved.”
