The Burngreave area of Sheffield is set to take another key step forward with the appointment of a new Communication Manager.

Alison Reid has taken up the position at Burngreave New Deal for Communities (BNDfC) – the ten year pioneering programme working to regenerate the area.

Alison will oversee regular and effective communication, both internally and externally, and build greater awareness of the opportunities and diversity in Burngreave, which have been created through BNDfC and its partners in the voluntary, statutory and private sectors.

Alison, who lives in Millhouses with her three teenage children, has a wealth of experience in the regeneration sector having worked as Communication Manager for Manor and Castle Development Trust for over three years. She coordinated marketing activity for the community organisation, helping to deliver a regeneration programme to the disadvantaged wards of Manor and Castle in the south east of Sheffield.

Before joining BNDfC, Alison worked maternity cover as marketing manager for South Yorkshire Investment Fund, which provides loan and equity investments for small and medium size businesses. She has also worked as Marketing Manager for Sheffield City Council and as an Internal Communication Coordinator within the Council's Communications Service.

Alison said: "I'm looking forward to my new role at BNDfC and the challenges that lie ahead. I am keen to make sure the community feels they have an effective communications tool and are fully engaged with the vast amount of opportunities and activities on offer in Burngreave.

“My aim is to continue building on the positive work that has already taken place to ensure clear, concise, jargon-free communication with the local residents we serve.”

John Clark, Chief Executive of BNDfC, said: "We are delighted that Alison has joined our team – she has a vast amount of experience in the communication and regeneration fields.

“As we celebrate the half way mark of the BNDfC programme and the success we have already achieved, it is a great boost to have Alison on board to help further drive forward the regeneration of the area.”
