Priority Area Projects

These are just some of the projects undertaken as part of the Children and Young People Priority area.

Bookstart: Provides book bags to babies and encourages families to use the library and develop good early reading habits.
Community Study Support Consortium: Brings together local voluntary and community sector organisations to provide after school study support sessions to enhance the developement and attainment of local young people at school.
Youth Project (Streetworx): Addresses the lack of a strategic co-ordination across the sector and helps towards improving outcomes for young people.

Family Support: Through early inervention aims to provide educational and health outcomes for vulnerable children and families, and avoid poor outcomes such as children being taken into care or becoming involved with the criminal justice system.

Supporting Play: Helps to provide a comprahensive co-ordinated range of year-round inclusive play and playcare services.

Language Learning: Enables primary schools to provide an additional programme of modern languages by giving pupils the opportunity to achieve national accreditation for the skills they already possess or skills they develope.

Community Education Coordinations: Working with schools to engage parents in family learning and adult education classes and to support their children's learning.
