Get digging to improve health

BTCV Green Gym in Burngreave is calling on everyone to lend a hand to improve their local environment. It wants to prise people free of their armchairs and get them involved in their local community by helping on a green project.

Volunteers will be working to create a garden for use by the local community to grow herbs, vegetables and fruit at Spital Street (opposite the new Surestart building) on Monday 13th February from 10am –2pm. Sian Hughes, who is co-ordinating the project, wants to see as many people as possible come along to help on the day:

“Helping out on an environmental project is a great way to improve overall health and fitness, learn new skills and at the same time do something really worthwhile”.

For more information, please phone Sian on 0114 2723591 or email s.hughes@btcv.org.uk

BTCV Green Gym in Burngreave is funded by Burngreave New Deal for Communities and the activity is part of a six-month campaign called Environment Agency Action Earth, supported by the Environment Agency. The campaign is organised by the national charity Community Service Volunteers (CSV) and involved over 750 voluntary organisations, businesses and community groups that will be undertaking projects that are of immediate and lasting benefit to the environment.
