Over weeks, the workshops will give the opportunity to play rhythm and melody instruments and the chance to learn dance steps from two ancient dance styles.
There will be examples from instruments found during archaeological digs to music from modern Celtic fusion. It will show the recent revival of Celtic mouth music to a competition discipline and all participants to learn songs in the old singing traditions.
This series of introductory workshops joins an established program of ‘healing arts’ workshops offered at the One World Centre, based at 80 Spital Hill, Sheffield S4 7LG and which are supported by grant aid from the Creative Burngreave Programme and the Burngreave New Deal for the Community Partnership.
This will be an ongoing group of ten workshops starting on Wednesday 21st September at 7.30 for 10 weeks. Participants are welcome to join at any time, as each workshop will cover new material. Due to the heavy subsidy, we can offer places at £1 per session.
