Community Health Educators – providing free supported courses for local people so that they have the knowledge skills and confidence to promote good health in their communities.

Burngreave Drugs Projects – support, education and therapies for local people affected by their own or a family members’ drug use.

Burngreave Advocacy Now – free, independent, generic, culturally appropriate community advocacy, whether that is help reading letters or someone to go with you to appointments.

Women’s Health Screening – culturally appropriate community health education to encourage women from Pakistani, Somali and Yemeni communities to ttake up cervical and breast screening services.

Halal Lunch Club – five nutritious hot halal meals and social activities a week for elderly and disabled Muslims.

Pitsmoor CAB Home-visiting Advice Service – providing advice to people who are isolated in their homes due to disability, old age or caring responsibility.

Promoting Healthy Lifestyles for Asian Families – a pilot project to provide weekly activities to encourage healthy eating and exercise to Asian families in Burngreave.

Burngreave Green Gym – a pilot project to encourage local residents to take exercise in the green environment through maintaining community gardens and other local green areas.

Sadacca Access Project – match funding to enable Sadacca Day Care Centre to install a lift so that African-Caribbean people with mobility problems can make full use of the centre.

Projects with Community Endorsement

Counselling Provision in Burngreave – extra counsellors in GP surgeries.

Emotional Health and Wellbeing – promoting emotional well being and stress management. This project will be particularly aimed at Yemeni men and Pakistani women as there is no other service of this kind for these communities.
