Firvale Festival 2007

This year's event is to be held on Sunday 9th of September on the Firvale School Grounds on Owler Lane in Firvale, Sheffield. The show starts at 1pm and ends at 5.30pm. Admission is free to all. The event is now in its second year. The festival was a huge success last year with over 4,000 people attending throughout the day. This year the event has been moved up onto the playing fields of the school grounds. This sets it in a much more comfortable and attractive environment as apposed to last year’s use of the hard standing area in front of the school.

The event is a celebration of the diversity and quality of the community of Firvale. From the younger members to the older people of the area everybody has something to do and enjoy at the event. Families in particular make the event what it is. Smiles all around when the sun shines

There will be a main stage marquee at the event presented by local art organisation Jamboree Arts with a few special guest performances. Topping the bill will be award winning Rap and Hip Hop Superstars Metz ‘n’ Trix who are set to rock the house big time. Metz ‘N’ Trix are regarded as the hottest entertainers in the Asian music scene. They are award winning and have had repeated success with albums and songs which have dominated the Asian music scene around the world not to mention their involvement in the urban music scene, performing alongside Punjabi Mc, the So Solid Crew, The Dreem Team (BBC RADIO 1, SPOONY), Heartless Crew, MJ Cole, Zed Bias & Injekta, Pay As You Go Crew, Dj Principle & Juiceman (Sidewinder), Ms Dynimate, Mike Ruff Cutt Lyod, Award Winning Dj E.Z. Dj Semtex and Tim Westwood. Also a cameo in Ms Dynimite FT STICKY – BOO. Recent releases have been Get Ready Get Set (moviebox) and Streets Of Bollywood (SaraGama/Moviebox) Coming Soon Get Ready Get Set 2 and Streets Of Bollywood 2.

Jamboree will be presenting a special performance of their widely acclaimed Good Ship Splendid Theatre Cabaret Show. Other acts on the day will be A local Slovacian Romainian music group playing traditional music and a belly dance team of ladies from the Zubidah school of dancing.

There will also be a huge fringe market with food, arts and craft stalls and local business exhibitions. The activity area will have boxing and martial arts displays, sports, games, an ice skating rink and climbing tower all presented by Activity Sheffield. Outside the main stage Marquee will be a circus skills workshop for the kids and just across the way will be an arts workshop marquee presented by the local Connexions centre. These are just a few elements that make the event Sheffield’s fastest growing community festival.
